About Biblical Law

“Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.” (Psa 119:97)

Let us praise the delights of God’s Law !

Let us rejoice, for God in His mercy gave us clear and simple rules so that it might be well with us, and our children after us !

Many modern day Christians, though, hold that not all of God’s Law, but only those aspects of the Law mentioned in the New Testament are still valid – and so they largely ignore the case laws, which means that they misunderstand most everything Jesus says to the Pharisees when they question Him. Since the Pharisees always tried to accuse Jesus of breaking the Law, they tested him on grounds of the Law, and to understand both their questions and Jesus’ reaction in a manner that is consistent with the rest of Scripture, you have to know the Old Testament Law, and you need to understand that Jesus came not to do away with the Law, but to fulfill it.

So let us be glad, for God’s word is not far from us, but close to our hearts, so that we can keep His statutes, testimonies and precepts.

“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” (Psa 119:103)
