Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Psalms 119:97

God’s Law

“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” (Deu 29:29)

Let us collect what people have to say about God’s Law.

Let’s start with a few words from Rousas John Rushdoony. I am quoting from “Institutes of Biblical Law“, Vol. 1:

“The law is condemned by the New Testament as a means of justification, which it was never intended to be. The law is not our means of justification or salvation, but of sanctification.” (Page 305)

Here is Michael S. Heiser’s opinion:

“All of Israelite culture was shaped by the Law: marriage and family relationships, social welfare, work and charity, sacrifice and ritual, personal and community holiness, foreign relations, and worship are some of the broad areas defined by the Law. But more fundamentally, the Law is about teaching a few basic ideas to Yahweh’s earthly family about living in his presence, and in the presence of their otherworldly heavenly brethren. The Law reinforces the separation of the divine and earthly spheres while laying out the rules for their co-existence in the process of working back to Yahweh’s Edenic goal of divine-human rule on earth.” (“The Myth That Is True”, current draft)
